Parallel Workshops: Peer interaction, Learn together
Ten parallel workshops were arranged for the afternoon sessions, with two rounds held for most workshops. Key teachers from SUIS campuses delivered workshops on diverse topics, covering Xiehe’ practice of Philosophy for Children (P4C), EMW Integrated English, interdisciplinary humanities project practice, EMW Integrated Mathematics, integrated STREAM education (encompassing Science, Technology, Reading, Art, Mathematics and other subjects), English teaching strategies for students with special educational needs, “Troubled Students” Psychology, holistic education at SUIS High School, and school-based implementation of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme.
Guided by senior Xiehe trainers, new Chinese and international teachers participated in group discussions to delve into Xiehe’s distinctive EMW integrated subjects and curriculum design and implementation, interdisciplinary studies and project-based learning, instructional strategies and the cognitive theories underpinning them, as well as students’ physical and mental well-being. They exchanged insights, practical classroom experience and educational philosophies from frontline teaching and learning at SUIS.

A one-day training program welcomed new teachers to Xiehe, kicking off the new academic year and embarking them on a new chapter of their educational careers at SUIS schools. Feedback collected from post-event survey shows that the vast majority of new teachers highly recognized the program for its professionalism, practicality and engaging design. They also candidly shared their training insights, suggestions for improvement and learning demands. It is believed that these passionate new educators will surely bring greater innovation and vitality to the SUIS campuses and to Xiehe Education as a whole.
