On November 14, SUIS Qingpu held a successful 2020 Xiehe Cross-Campus Swimming Competition for primary students. As the host of this event, SUIS Qingpu welcomed 210 swimmers from its own campus as well as those from the four campuses of Hongqiao, Wanyuan, Pudong, Shangyin.
After the opening ceremony’s flag raising, Ms. Sunny Huang, Co-acting Principal of the SUIS Qingpu Campus, extended a warm welcome to the athletes, team leaders, and parent volunteers from each campus, and encouraged all young athletes to experience the joy of sport and the unity of teamwork when participating in athletic competitions. The chief referee for today’s competition, Mr. Andy Xu, then explained the rules of and precautions for the races, and communicated to the swimmers that if they had any questions or concerns, to please raise them with the referees.
The swimming area quickly became a scene of excitement, cheering and energetic activity, with young swimmers preparing themselves by rubbing their arms and legs, stretching their muscles, and going through their warm-up routines. Finally, at the referee’s whistle, the competition officially began: athletes were at once plowing through waves like flying fish. In this competition, the junior and senior groups worked through a variety of races: 25M freestyle kicking, 25M breaststroke kicking, 25M freestyle, 25M breaststroke, 25M backstroke, 4x25M freestyle relay, 25M butterfly, 50M backstroke, 50M breaststroke, 50M freestyle and 4x50M freestyle relay.
