Xiehe Education Cross Campus Professional Development Day

On March 20th, 2021, the 11th Annual Cross-Campus Professional Development Day was held at the Jiaoke Campus, which showed Xiehe Campus’s emphasis on the professional development of teachers. The theme of this event revolved around the theme of ” Encouraging the Motivation of Students and Teachers to Meet the New Challenge of Education”. In accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, both onsite and online format were adopted. This event continued carrying forward the high requirements of Xiehe Group for teachers’ professional development by providing them with high standard and diversified channels for improvement.

The principle of the Jiaoke Campus Spring Li and the Principal of the BC Program Mr. Brett Syer addressed sincere welcome to the presence of all distinguished colleagues and honored guests.

SUIS Jiaoke Campus is committed to students’ learning in the broadest sense. We strive to cultivate students to be confident, calm, caring, and innovative. For this reason, our EMW, BC, and other international integration programs focus on students’ academic ability, sportsmanship, and comprehensive development. The keyword of this activity, “motivation”, is also the part that we pay the most attention to in the students’ development.

 Maxine  Lu  General Principal of Xiehe Education

Ms. Lu Huiwen, principal Lu of the Xiehe Group, addressed a welcome speech to all colleagues. She provoked thoughts and inspiration with her insightful visions of education as always.

The theme of Principal Lu’s presentation is “Motivation is needed more than ever in the age of VUCA”. She used illustrations of multiple sets of charts and data presentation to point out the intense competition of the international education industry. The Xiehe Education Group will always maintain the diversity and competitiveness of the international curriculum as challenges and opportunities will continue to coexist. 

“VUCA” is the key abbreviation that stands for V-Volatility, U-Uncertainty, C-Complexity, A-Ambiguity.

Education Experts Sharing Advanced Concept

We are very honored to have two distinguished guests for this event. Dr. Yafang Liu is an experienced school manager and the PDQ program leader. Her expertise is in the field of Assessment for Learning, Reflective Practice, and how to help students to become self-regulated learners. Mr. James Nottingham,from the UK，who is well know in the grobal education . who specifically recorded his lecture of “Encouraging Motivation, Self-Efficacy and Independent Learning for All Students”.

The theories and its application on teaching & learning

Dr. Yafang Liu reviewed some theories about motivation and connected them to our daily classroom practice. She shared some teacher comments and students’ opinions and asked the audience to solve classroom challenges together.

Through learning evaluation, reflective practice, and how to cultivate students to become self-regulated. In economics and sociology classes, Dr. Liu uses various teaching activities, such as role-play, debate, and cooperative learning, to stimulate students’ interest in their learning journeys.

James Nottingham

Encouraging Motivation, Self-Efficacy and Independent Learning For All Students

Mr. Nottingham introduced concepts from the famous Pygmalion effect (how teachers view their students) to the Galati effect (how students view themselves), explaining how they can relate to students’ motivation. He also provides effective strategies to improve students’ self-efficacy and autonomous learning ability and help students be willing to apply what they have learned to different situations.

Other campuses also participated in the event via online platform,  and shared many pictures of  their meeting. Let’s enjoy it together!
